Goniopower is a new coral food from Two Little Fishes, developed by flowerpot-coral artist Justin Credabel. Goniopora corals have always been somewhat of a challenge to keep in an aquarium over the long term, and recent consensus seems to agree that these corals are especially in need of additional nutrition on top of good lighting and water quality. Goniopower was created from several types of zooplankton to be an ideal food source for Goniopora and Alveopora corals, with a fine particle size that is easily target fed with Julian’s Thing, and ideal for the mouth size of flowerpot corals.
Unlike many dry coral foods with a fine particle size, Goniopower is really targeting flowerpot corals, which have a weak sting and a low concentration of nematocyst that makes it hard for them to catch food from the water column. When you’re really trying to beef up some Gonies and Alveopora, mix one part Goniopower with two parts of water and with the flow turned off gently squirt some food on your flowerpot corals, allowing the food to be deposited on the polyps.
Goniopower can also be used for all kinds of different coral species, with large polyp stony corals showing a very positive response to being fed with it. First announced at MACNA last fall, Justin Credabel’s Goniopower is finally becoming available to the aquarium hobby and getting liked by aquarists everywhere.
